I recently had bowel surgery under the care of Mr Hotouras. On his busy morning bed rounds he was always happy to take time to answer questions or concerns. He was a very reassuring presence and by the end of my stay I saw him as a friend as much as my consultant. I could not have asked for more attentive care and highly recommend his services.

Alex provided an outstanding service and paid meiticilous attention to detail when looking after my father who had a very complex case requiring multiple surgeries. He made time to inform my father and various family members of the situation and even sent updates even when on leave. He always went above and beyond the call of duty. I cannot recommend him highly enough. Our father and family are very grateful to have Alex as his consultant. We wish him all the best for the future. Kiran

Alex was very clear with what he wanted to do before the surgery and very clear after with what had happened. The communication was always very clear. I would recommend Alex to anyone having surgery (in his area).

Alex Hotouras is part of the uniformly excellent colorectal/gastroenterology team at Whipp Cross, part of the Barts Trust. Caring, supportive, and senstive to individual patient needs, Alex inspires confidence in both his treatment and his opinions on the best course for one's care. Having undergone a difficult programme of treatment, over an extensive period of time, Mr Hotouras has always been straightforward, informative and has helped me through the surgical and support process, backed up by the wider medical and nursing team. The needs of the individual patient are always at the centre of his concerns, yet at the same time he is suitably direct when imparting information and advice. His pragmatism and balanced approach is also reassuring. My treatment programme could have been much more difficult without the support and expertise of a consultant like Mr Hotouras and I would have no hesitation in recommending him to others.

Dr Hotouras made me feel very comfortable with the procedure after explaining it in great depth. Although my after care by the hospital was not great, as it was a new procedure they did not inform Dr Hotouras of my returns which led to some complications. However once Dr Hotouras was aware he personally took over my after care and ensured I was seen by himself and his team on numerous occasions to ensure my post op healing was on track. Dr Hotouras personally called to make sure I was ok weeks after my healing, which for me shows his dedication to his patients. I would like to thank Dr Hotouras for making the whole experience as uncomplicated as possible and for also choosing me to undergo this new procedure as it has really made a difference to my day to day life.
